100 Outfit 100 Days

Some days I walk out the door and I look like a poster child for Ann Taylor and/or Target.  If I had to describe my style, it might be nerdy chic.  Hmmm.  I don't know how to describe my style now that I think about it.  I want to make Audrey Hepburn proud!

You know what I'm going to bring back?  100 outfits in 100 days because damnit, I like clothes and I'm getting into fashion.  I wore this outfit to my friend's wedding, and I felt so chic and sophisticated (two words that rarely get used to describe me).  It's just a basic black dress (from H&M) and a silver skinny belt.  The waist of the dress hits me high, so when I tried a wide belt, it made me look like I was just boobs and had no waist.  Ugh, awful.

One of the things I like about this dress is the neckline and simplicity.  You cannot tell that I have an effed up chest and have to wear enhancers in my bra. The neckline is high but it's wide, so it gives the illusion of shoulders.  I just really like this so much.  I don't look like a sickie or someone who just had a freaking double mastectomy two months ago.

I.  Look.  Hawt.

Outfit 14

I learned my lesson from Outfit 10.  I really like this sweater, but I learned that too much neutral equals boring. I wanted to try again with this sweater but learn from last time.  I definitely was not going to pair the sweater with brown pants.  (Seriously, what the hell was I thinking?)  I paired the sweater with a nice, lightweight blouse.  I think the top and bottom go very well together.  You can't see it but I'm wearing my favorite pair of earrings: the skull and crossbones dangling earrings.  I feel girly with a touch of bad ass.  Don't mess with me, yo!

Yes, I'm a dork.

Outfit 13

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you "not boring."

Woo, doggie.  Jump back with your bad self.  Okay, the picture doesn't do the blouse any justice.  The color is a deep blue jewel tone, which I like.  I like to think that pale chicks can really rock the dark colors, like jewel tones.  Two other things I really love about the blouse: the deep V neck and the detailing.   If I was better at self portraits, then I would have been able to show that in the picture.  Regardless, I am quite pleased with this outfit but I can do better.  I can always do better.

Outfit 12

I swear I'm not mad in this picture.

I have long since noticed that I like the following two items: that chain & fake pearl necklace, and the knee-high gray boots.   I wear these two items in my day-to-day wardrobe quite a bit.  My collection of button-downed shirts has grown extensively in the previous two years.  Since my work does not have a dress code, I try to still "dress up" but without looking like I meandered into the wrong office.  I would love to dress up full-force, but then I would feel out of place among my coworkers.  Who wants that?

I have to go into the office tomorrow.  We're taking a group picture so I'm going to attempt "exciting."  Hmmm.  CAN I DO EXCITING?

Outfit 11

The proportions of this picture are off, but I broke my tripod.  Unfortunately, this is the best I can do.  Anyway,  I wore this to work today.  I really love this shirt and regret not buying it in different colors when I had the chance.  I really love the detail of the top, especially the sheer insert.  This shirt makes me think of the 40s or maybe 50s... subtle sexy perhaps?  Rowr.

It's hard to tell from the distorted picture (my left arm is not that tiny, eek) but I'm wearing a pair of black Mary Jane heels.  I fell in love with these shoes that I ran back (well, I took my car) and bought the same pair in brown.  Compared to the brown monstrosity that was my last outfit, I like this one so much better.  It's girly, has interest and shows that I have a figure.  I'd give the beige brown outfit a C, and this one a B, maybe a B+.  I can do better.

Outfit 10

I haven't posted any new pictures to 100 Outfits, 100 days in awhile.  The last outfit that I tried to take a picture of was so atrocious that I couldn't post it.  It was bad, oh my stars.  Anyway, the other reason I haven't posted any pictures: I've been working from home for the last couple of weeks because I've been sick.  With the blessing of my boss (and my co-workers' ears), I have been keeping my my germs and my cough to myself at home.

This is the outfit I wore into the office today.  It's a very very low-key outfit.  A fashion risk taker... I am not.  I still like it because it's nice and well-fitting.  Holy neutral batman!  If I'm going to do something like this in the future, then I'm going to have to add a Pop of Color (tm Brad Goreski) to make this a really put-together outfit.  It's safe and boring.  I can do better.  Come on, Lara.

The smile, though... I like the smile.

Outfit 9

This was the outfit I wore today at work.  This outfit has been brought to you by the letters A and T: Ann Taylor.  Oh Ann Taylor, I lurrrrrveee you and your purdy clothes.  I would happily be a paid blogger on your behalf.  /end shameless plea  The top and pants are Ann Taylor, and the necklace is from The Limited.  I felt pretty good and confident in the outfit today but as usual, I feel a little different.  The outfit is nice but it's kind of boring.  A nice pop of color would have made this outfit an A+ for me.  Overall, the shirt is pretty awesome.

Also, as you can see, Boomer follows me around the house.  She wants to be by my side at all times.  It's probably all the snuggling that her and I do; she is pretty snuggly.

Outfit 8

Headless Lara!  Ahhh.

I did a shit job taking this self-portrait because hello, no face.  Hell, upon closer look, maybe that doesn't matter because it's probably the best picture of an outfit I have taken so far.  Heck, I might even continue taking headless pictures of myself. I really like this style of top, especially the bow detail.  The chunky bracelet is from the Patricia collection, aka my mom.  I inherited a lot of her costume jewelry, including her love of costume jewelry.  If I had to change anything about this outfit, I think I would nix the biker boots.  I should have worn heels or flats with this, and it would have been ultra girly (I think?).  I wanted to mix feminine and masculine in this outfit, but I missed the mark.  (The mark, of course, being a nice cohesive outfit, haha.)

I'm getting there.

Outfit 7

Not the best photo but it has Boomer posing along with me.  How can you not love a cute dog staring into the camera?  She is so photogenic... that bitch.

While I don't like the photo (too crowded and my legs and feet look weirdly short because of the perspective, I do like this outfit.  The red blouse, which I bought from (where else?) Ann Taylor Loft, is my new favorite shirt.  It feels so comfy, and I like the detail (mini panels) on the front.  It's fun and flowy!  The necklace and pencil skirt are from - again, Ann Taylor.  The picture makes me think I should have the skirt hemmed maybe an inch, and it will help with the proportions.

Taking pictures of my outfits really helps me figure out what works and what doesn't.

Outfit 6

I just wore this outfit today to work.  I'm wearing dark skinny jeans, a gigantic cream-colored sweater, and these fuzzy comfy tan boots.  Once again, I'm wearing a sweater that really doesn't show my shape too well.  I'm hoping that the skinny jeans play off the bulky sweater.  Despite it being big, it really is oh so soft.  I feel like I'm wearing a hug!

Also, I need to work on my makeup skills.  I don't think I'm good at it yet.  I'm afraid I look like a clown whore.   Eye makeup is too dark,as is my blush.  Repeat - clown whore.

Outfit 5

I wore this little ensemble to the Rex Theater last Friday, where I saw my first my first burlesque show.  Hey, look here - I'm not wearing a solid colored shit.  This outfit includes my new favorite accessory ever - a soft, purple scarf with black skull and crossbones (purchased in May from the Culture Shop).  I wear this scarf as much as I can.  It makes me feel both girly and badass.

Don't mind my cluttered kitchen.  We're, uh, working on it.  I swear I'm not a hoarder.

Outfit 4

I wore this outfit to work today.  While looking at this picture, I see things I like and aspects I do not like.  Pros: I do like the color combination of the gold necklace and green shirt.  Cons: I don't think the shirt is flattering on me.  I don't see any shape, so it's just kind of blahhh.  I am totally in love with the big ole necklace (purchased at the Limited).  I like my necklaces big and bold, yo.  When I was a youngin', I really liked Mr. T from the A Team.  This necklace reminded me of Mr. T, but that wasn't a deterrent for me!

I PITY THE FOOL WHO DOESN'T LIKE THIS NECKLACE.

Outfit 3

I wore this last Saturday while hanging out with a couple of my friends.  I'm wearing my beloved skinny jeans (what has happened to me?) and a pair of checkered flats.  Once again, I'm wearing a solid-colored shit but this time, it's different!  I'm wearing a scarf, haha.  My favorite part of this outfit would be the skull and crossbones earrings.   It was my way of adding a bad-ass touch to a girlfriend outfit.  Even Boomer likes the shoes!

I think posting pictures of myself is a good way to see what works and what doesn't.   So far out of the four pictures, this one is my favorite.

Outfits 1 and 2

Work Lara

I wore this outfit yesterday to the office.  If I had to describe the style for this ensemble, business prep?  This isn't exactly fashion forward but I think it looks like a nice, put-together outfit.

Casual Lara

This is today's outfit.  Apparently I like solid-colored sweaters.  Another thing I like, scratch that, LOVE are those grey Fergalicious boots.  I hate Fergie's music but her footwear is pretty awesome.  I have a pair of grey Fergalicious flats, but anyway.  I digress.  This is my first pair of skinny jeans and as usual, I'm late to the game.  I am a fan of the skinny jeans.

Oh my stars, did I just admit that I'm a skinny jeans fan?
