Hi! Remember me?

Last summer, I had a lot of grandiose plans on what I wanted to do with Get Up Swinging.  I wanted to transfer the blog to its own domain and even had a friend do some freelance design work to create a template for a blog.  She did a great job, and it was beautiful.

The only problem was me.  I couldn't think of anything to write about.  I had just had a double mastectomy and was undergoing reconstruction, which was annoying and drawn out.  I had just made the huge decision to stop taking Tamoxifen, which studies after studies have shown help reduce your risk of a metastatic reoccurrence.  I couldn't do it, and even though this medication could give me an extra year or decade, I opted to stop taking it.  Depression had taken over my life, set up shop and it wasn't letting me go.

I've spent the last year doing what I did before I got sick: working, sometimes hanging out with friends, losing friends, and talking way too much about my dog.  I have been writing my memoir entitled, of course, Get Up Swinging.  It's currently over 170 pages, and probably one or two edits away from me reaching out to the publishing community, asking, "Will you publish me, please?"

It's time to restart something that has meant more to me than I could probably relate to anyone.  This isn't just a blog.  This is who I am.

And who I am is damn fabulous.

  1. Lara, you are in fact damn fabulous, and awesome too. Also apparently a plague vector, which is less ideal. Heh.

    1. Nancebeth, you stopped Tamoxifen too? How long did you last on it? I only lasted six months, but the SEs were a bitch. Depression, joint pain, bone pain, hot flashes. My QOL was so shit that I couldn't see another month on there.
